Data Mining Software
What exactly IS data mining, as it relates to poker, anyway? Simply speaking it is the collection of hand histories of hundred's of players through many poker sites. The hole cards, community cards and how each player plays that hand is collected and stored in a data base which then, with the assistance of software such as Poker Office, Poker Crusher and Poker Tracker sorts the data into statistical categories.
This information will then be able to tell you just what type of player each opponent is, whether manicial, passive, loose or aggressive and so on.
The bottom line is that these programs helps online players to "read" their opponents hands by listing a stastical analysis of how they have played based on the hand histories stored in the database.
Some of these programs will have an integrated HUD (hand analysis display) program which will show these statistics next to the player's icon or position or you will be required to either download or purchase this program separately. It must be said, at this point however, that the HUD program is ESSENTIAL and learning to read the stastics can take some time.
